auto body repair

Posted January 6th, 2010 by arun

After you have had an accident there are so many things that you have to do. It makes it nice to be able to deal with a more simplified claims process that does not have any hassles. There are auto body repair shops in california that know how to take care of your auto after and accident. I have a friend that took several months of paper work before she could get her car back on the road. Her life was literally turned upside down after her car accident. She already had so much to take care of with time that she had to loose from work and then she was being run around the block to get her car repaired. As she and I discussed there has to be a better way for this process to run and now we find that there is. We knew that every accident that takes place on our highways could not be going through all of this red tape. There was never a question on the accident from anyone and she was the only one involved and yet the time it took was crazy. When we know better we do better and now we all know!

5 Countries to visit

Posted January 6th, 2010 by arun

1 – Egypt. King Tut, The Pyramids, The Valley of the Kings. The list is endless. But it’s just not the history and the culture, it’s the people too. Egyptians are some of the kindest and most generous people on the planet. They will welcome you into their homes in a second and even if they have almost nothing, they will share it with you.

An afternoon on the Nile with an Egyptian felucca captain sailing your boat as the sun sets over the Nile in Luxor is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed.

2 – China. China is not somewhere people immediately think of when planning a holiday…but they should, and hopefully after the Olympics in Beijing they will. Even if you could only afford 7 to 10 days, an itinerary that takes in Beijing, Xian, a Yangtze River Cruise and Shanghai will be a great introduction.

And for an unforgettable experience, juts visit Guilin. Guilins landscape is amazing and totally unique. It can’t necessarily be called Mountainous as such, but the peaks that do rise, rise almost vertically up into the mist.

If you get a chance take a ski lift up to one of the peaks and just stare in awe at the view, and if you are feeing adventurous, take a kart down a toboggan style run (about 3,000 feet in length) !

3 – Jordan. Handily located, if you plan it right you can visit Egypt and Jordan together to make a real trip to remember. Amman is a great city full of atmosphere, Petra is marvellous, but surely the can’t miss site is the Dead Sea. The only ocean in the world with so much salt in it, you actually float !

This alone makes Jordan a must see country and on top of what I have already mentioned, don’t forget the Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Jerash and the Kings Highway. A week in Jordan is good, but 10 days is better.

4 – Hong Kong. Although there is much more to Hong Kong than just shopping, if you do love to shop, then Hong Kong is the place for you. A stroll along Nathan Road and a visit to the Temple Street market just HAS to be done. And make sure you have your bargaining hat on as haggling is as big a part of the experience as the purchases themselves.

There lots more to Hong Kong too. The great thing is that despite it being a modern city, there is tradition around every corner. Don’t forget to take a trip to Victoria Peak and enjoy the stunning views and remember that even if it’s misty, there are 2 guys at the top who will take your picture and transpose it onto a picture of what you should see if the weather where not so poor ! I also suggest a couple of half day visits out to Lama and Lantau Islands too. A great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the craziness that is Hong Kong.

5 – Thailand. Thailand suffers a little from it’s reputation of being a very hedonistic destination and while it is true that the is a very wild side to Thaialnd (especially certain areas of Bangkok, Phucket etc) there is also an amazing culture to immerse yourself in.

There really is everything there, adventure, culture and even for the not faint hearted, a place about 1 hour north of Thailand where you can go in, yes go in, with real live tigers. No cages, no chains, just you and around a dozen tigers. For me it was a thrill of a lifetime and without doubt it is just one of the many reasons that Thailand is in my top 5 of places you need to visit in the world

Melbourne is a City of Neighbourhoods

Posted January 6th, 2010 by arun

The city Melbourne is situated in Australia, on the south coast.

Melbourne is a city of neighbourhoods. Italian or Chinese, groovy or chic, bohemian or beachside Melbourne has them all. Each has its own character instilled by the type of people who live and work there. From all over the world who have brought their customs, beliefs, businesses, food, art and style to the city.

The best approach to visiting Melbourne is to know what you want from your stay, and then locate yourself appropriately. For a corporate business trip, or if you just want to be in the living heart of the city, Melbournes central business district is the place to be. If you are in search of nightlife, glamour or a more Hollywood approach to business, South Yarra and Toorak in the cities east will serve you well. For affordable accommodation with access to pubs and live music, or more expensive beachside hotels, St Kilda may be the best choice.

Kings Domain is a tourist attraction. This is the elegant part of the city where amid the park like surroundings on a hill top is Government House, the residence of the Governor of Victoria. There are guided tours of the residence that are run by the National Trust, one of the highlights being the state ballroom which occupies the entire south wing. The building, constructed in 1872, is a replica of Queen Victories palace in England on the Isle of Wight.

Old Melbourne Gaol is the prison which was built in stages between 1841 to 1864. The gold rush of the 1850s caused quite a bit of lawlessness that it had to be expanded. The prison was closed for use in 1923 and today is a relic of the past. The Australian folk hero, Ned Kelly, who is still held with much awe and fascination by many, was hanged in this prison along with about 100 other people. The museum outlines the histories of some murderers and their victims like the story of Martha Needle who poisoned her husband and daughters with arsenic.

Queen Victoria Market is a market which has guided tours and not because the food and vegetable stalls just seems to go on for ever. The market is huge. More than that, the tours are intended make sure visitors get to the right spots of activity in this robust place. Visitors can go on a Foodies Dream Tour where they can sample the best of the fare at the market. Alternatively, the Heritage Tour familiarises you with the history of the market which has been in existence for more than 100 years, and was once the site of a cemetery. You can always go on a do it yourself tour and equally have fun.

Iceland Beach Club

Posted October 17th, 2009 by arun

No, well get out your beach towels. For, on a beautiful, sunny and calm summer day, admittedly a rare meteorological occurrence at this latitude, you may want to visit Nautholsvik (pronounced “nay-tolls-veek”) for a day at the beach. Yes, there’s a beach in Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland, and on very good day you can sunbathe, play volleyball, build sandcastles and even swim. Truth be told you could do many of these things on any day just not in a swimsuit. Iceland is famous, or shall I say notorious, for its capricious weather.

That’s not to say that there isn’t nice weather here. It just won’t stay that way and warm days are somewhat rare, all of which creates a sense of urgency to get out and soak up the sun. The day I visited Reykjavik’s “thermal beach,” as it is called here, was on a particularly splendid Saturday in July, the skies were clear, the winds calm and the temperature was about 19 degrees Celsius (66 degrees Fahrenheit) — downright warm for Iceland.

Best Gambling Destinations For 2008

Posted October 17th, 2009 by arun

Every year millions of thrill seekers who love playing poker, betting on the ponies, or placing bets on the big games enjoy going out to new and exciting destinations for a few days of sun, cocktails and of course gambling. Whether you live in China or Las Vegas people love to let loose and throw a little money around in hopes of hitting something big. We’ve compiled a list of the best places to satisfy your need to sin in 2008, Michael Vick’s house didn’t make the cut.
7.) Nassau, Bahamas

Known more for its beautiful beaches and resorts than its casinos, Nassau is quickly becoming more than just a “fun-in-the-sun” destination. Situated on 7 acres of palm laced lagoons, The Atlantis offers 78 different games from Baccarat to (of course) Caribbean Stud. In addition, they host many high dollar tournaments across many gambling avenues, including a slot tourney that happens to take place on St. Patty’s day. Green beer and the Bahamas sounds like a winning combo in March.

6.) Atlantic City, New Jersey

This gambling Mecca, along with Vegas, are not the trendy gambling locations that a typical list like this would recommend going to for a unique experience. The fact is that Atlantic City has it all and is such a powerhouse on the gambling front that it can’t be ignored. From the Trump Taj Majal to Bally’s, you can’t turn around in Atlantic City without bumping into a green felt table or slot machine. After 12 hours of riding the drinking and gambling roller coaster, you can sober up by taking a stroll and soaking up an Atlantic sunset on the world famous boardwalk.

5.) Macau

Where the hell is Macau? Mississippi? Nevada? Hawaii? Getting warmer. Welcome to China, the land of Mao, Yao, and Macau. Let’s cut to the chase – this place is going to be bigger than Vegas, the Chinese Vegas on steroids if you will. In Macau, the “must see” is the Venetian Macao Hotel. Complete with state-of-the-art gaming amenities and its own arena, here you can lose a pretty penny and drown your sorrows front row at a Beyonce concert all in the same hotel. How is that for making a guy feel better after taking a bad beat! Macau’s gambling roots stretch back to the 1800’s but only today is it emerging as a major gaming destination.

4.) Louisville, Kentucky

More specifically Churchill Downs, on May 5th for the 133rd Kentucky Derby. Can you think of anything better that drinking mint juleps until you have a stomach ache (or a heavy buzz), while dropping gobs of money on animals just because they have clever names? I can’t. There is more to it than that; you’ve got the big hats and the tears being shed over during the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home.” The history and passion for this race run deep and the atmosphere at Churchill on that day is something that needs to be experienced by all, if not in 2008, sometime before your die.

3.) Las Vegas

Viva the Monte Carlo Brew Pub! Viva the guys on the street handing out advertisements! Viva $2.99 steak and eggs! Viva the fact that what happens in Vegas stays there! Viva drive thru weddings! Viva Elvis Impersonators! Viva $15 bottles of Visine! Viva free drinks, penny slots, the World Series of Poker, airport gambling, and hotel swimming pools. Viva Las Vegas!

2.) Sun City, South Africa

Situated in the African prairie is Sun City. If gambling gets your blood pumping, Sun City takes it to another level by also offering safaris and world class golf. 10:00am – You win $1,200 playing blackjack, 2:30pm you finally shoot a round under 100, 7:45pm – The Hummer you’re riding in stops suddenly so you can catch a glimpse of a lion pride. And then you think, what if they raced lions instead of horses at Churchill?

1.) Monte Carlo, Monaco

That’s right; we’re high rolling in 2008 James Bond style. Since the 1860’s the world’s most densely populated country has embraced gamblers with open arms. The world’s elite are drawn to the Casino de Monte Carlo to strike it rich(er). With its Ionic columns, royal garden, oceans of slot machines, and marble atrium the Casino de Monte Carlo is sure to make an impression on anyone who enters her doors.

Vienna – History of an Imperial City

Posted October 17th, 2009 by arun

Due to its privileged geographical placement, just between the Danube river and the Alps that descend calmly to the mountains called Wienerwald. The Austrian capital was through its dynamic history a very important factor to take into account for the future of the whole actual Europe.

The fact that it was placed in the crossroad of the great routes between Occidental and Oriental Europe, soon made Vienna become the heart of Europe. But the process to reach that objective was far from easy, as history explains. In their efforts to secure their lands and the Mediterranean sea against the Northern invaders, the romans, under Augustus emperor, occupied this privileged zone between the Alps and the Danube.

In its origin, they established simply a soldiers camp base, the strongest they had in Austria, next to the position that the actual Vienna occupies, and later it became capital of the region during nearly 400 years. Some years later, in Claudius time, Limes was built at the east, as an advanced defensive place to control the border. Also, as a lateral defense of the central camp, some other troop camps were built in what today is the Third District of Vienna.

Around year 115, the main troops where moved to this new camps. After this happened, a critic period was to follow, and after serious battles against the barbarian invaders, resistance went down and the whole city was devastated.

Only at year 960 the territory was ready again to be rebuilt, after the current emperor strengthened the oriental border. 1137 is the year when Vienna is first designated as a city and 1156 brings to Vienna the quality of the capital of the territory.

Vienna today is amazingly full of story. Some stones standing there have seen many empires come and go, but in the end the result was the obvious. Vienna has a privileged position in the heart of Europe and this made many empires to be interested in gaining this position. At same time, even if it was burnt down once in the early years, the actual city was never conquered again and even resisted the battle against the Turkish troops between 1529 and 1683.

This war alone can be understood as many others that happened on that period, but it really had a special meaning for the whole Europe, as in that period the whole strength of Europe was brought there. If Vienna would have not resisted, almost certainly the whole Occidental civilization would have been destroyed.

5 Ways To Have A Romantic Maui Vacation

Posted October 17th, 2009 by arun

Are you and your partner in need of a romantic getaway? If you are, you may want to take the time to examine Maui. Maui is known as a popular vacation destination, as well as a popular destination for romantic getaways. With the beauty of the island, as well as a lot of fun, romantic things to do and see, achieving romance on your next Maui trip shouldn’t be a problem.

Although the beauty of Maui is often enough to create romance on its own, you may be looking for additional ways. The good news is that there are a number of different steps that you can take to up the romance levels for your next Maui trip. Five approaches that you will want to take are outlined below for your convenience.

1 – Book a Stay at a Maui Vacation Rental

Booking a stay at a Maui vacation rental is one of the easiest ways to add romance to your next Maui trip. Maui vacation rentals, especially when compared to traditional hotels and vacation resorts, provide you with an unlimited number of romantic opportunities. When examining Maui vacation rentals, you will find that you have a number of different options. These options include Maui villas, condos, homes, cottages, and apartment rentals.

2 – Choose a Beautiful Vacation Rental

When it comes to booking a stay at a Maui vacation rental, like a Maui villa, you will find that they come in all different formats. The beauty of a Maui villa and other vacation rentals, both inside and out, can play a huge role in the romance factor.

When examining your options, in terms of available Maui vacation rentals, it is important to examine pictures. You will want to look at the Maui rental pictures to see if the rental property in question is beautiful or elegant in nature. In addition to examining the inside of a Maui rental, you will also want to examine the outside as well. The view of which you are provided with can also help to add romance to your next Maui trip. Look for Maui vacation rentals that provide you with ocean or mountain views.

3 – Choose a Vacation Rental That is Private

As previously stated, Maui vacation rentals come in a number of different formats, such as Maui villas, condos, apartment rentals, cottages, and homes. While each of these rental property types do boast a little bit of privacy, some are more private than others. For example, when you rent a Maui villa, cottage, or home, you are renting the whole establishment, not just a few rooms. This allows you to have the utmost level of privacy and romance on your next Maui trip.

4 – Choose a Vacation Rental that Offers Convenience

Convenience is also an important component of creating romance on a romantic getaway. In terms of your Maui vacation rental, you will want to book a stay at a rental that simplifies your vacation. For instance, spending your vacation doing laundry at a local laundromat or doing a sink full of dishes by hand is likely to send the romance flying right out the window. That is why you may want to closely examine all Maui rental features and amenities. A Maui villa or another vacation rental that comes equipped with a laundry room, as well as a dishwasher is likely to simplify your vacation, giving you more room for romance.

5 – Plan Ahead, But Be Spontaneous At the Same Time

When it comes to planning a romantic Maui trip, there are certain portions of your trip that should be planned well in advance, like travel arrangements. Once you have made your airline reservations or booked a stay at a Maui rental, you may want to take the time to examine nearby attractions and activities. You will want to focus on those that may be fun and romantic at the same time. While you do not have to create a full schedule for your next Maui trip, having an idea of what you can do and see while on the island of Maui is likely to increase the happiness and romance factors for your next Maui trip.

The above mentioned ways are just a few of the many ways that you can go about ensuring your next romantic Maui getaway is just that, romantic. As a reminder, Maui, alone, is able to create romance, but the previously mentioned tips can help to maximize the romance for you and your partner.

Vacations in Eastern Cuba

Posted October 17th, 2009 by arun

Santiago de Cuba, located between the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Maestra mountain range, is the Eastern capital and home of the Cuban Son, which is the father of all Cuban rhythms of this century. It is the capital of the Santiago de Cuba Province in the eastern region of the island and the country’s second largest metropolis. This city, rich in culture, tradition, and also in natural and architectural treasures, provides travelers with amazing experiences in their Cuba vacations. From hill-walking and mountaineering to historical and cultural tours, Santiago de Cuba is a destination that will not disappoint you.

For those who love nature and who enjoy mountain-climbing and hill-walking activities, Santiago de Cuba offers several points of interest like: the Sierra Maestra mountain range and Baconao Biosphere Reserve, where La Gran Piedra (The Great Stone) stands out.

The rugged topography of the Sierra Maestra, with elevations of up to 1,300 m above sea level, is unique in the island and famous for its landscapes of breathtaking beauty and unbelievable variety. Among these elevations are the three highest peaks of Cuba: the Pico Real del Turquino with 1,974 m, the Pico Cuba with 1,872 m and the Pico Suecia with 1,734 m above sea level. This scenery gives the visitor the feeling of being at the top of the island, and you can literally touch the clouds in the sky. It is an exclusive place where one can get the best view of the rivers, forests, mountains and valleys that surround the region. It’s also considered as one of the most important well-preserved areas in Cuba, due to the great diversity of its flora and fauna. I highly recommend bringing your camera along to take some pictures of endemic flowers and animals of the zone. Bird watching is also a popular activity in this area.
